How We Do It:

Caveat:  Some vendors are also using the term "Application Blueprinting".   It is important to pay attention to the details since our approach is very different: 

Very Different Approaches From Others:

  1. The first approach is what they call “configuring your blueprint”.  This is "sugar coating" the manual server replication and image conversion and is the same as doing a manual migration.  

    There is no automation involved.

  2. Another approach refers to a blueprint based on  "application templates available on the target cloud".  This is suitable for “greenfield” applications that are developed for the cloud but they are not applicable to “brownfield” applications or re-hosting of existing apps in the cloud.  In many cases, your existing application maybe running a specific version of OS with specific patches which may not be available as a template in the cloud.

    CloudVelox’s Application Blueprint clones your existing OS/patch to make it run in the cloud, thereby reducing the risk of the application launching and running in the cloud.
